THE GREATEST WORST MOVIE….EVER

( AN  IN-DEPP SIDEBAR )                                                                                                                                                                 Just like the movie this review will be just as bad , but it will captivate you and leave you speechless. Maybe most of you have seen the movie { ED WOOD } staring the great  Johnny Depp.                                                                                                  Mr. Depp,  who I’ve been told by many that I kinda look like him. Looks not the bank account that’s for sure. Really in my younger days for sure, but now maybe not so much, I have truly aged better. When it comes to  Johnny  he is my 3rd all time favorite actor ever, ever! His work is among some of the most remarkable ever too grace the silver screen. This review is not about the  Depp  film, it’s about the movie, that his movie was about. Confused? Good! Let’s get into this. Who were the actors in this epic movie? Well as you know by now, down the rabbit hole of research it get’s very deep, so buckle up for a wild review about a wild movie, Plan 9 from Outer Space.                                                                                                  ( WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE )                                                                                                                                         The movie has alot of no names for sure, however not to the cult following of this movie. It is among the top Cult Driven Movies of all- time. Other movies of this fame you may have heard of. The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Night of the Living Dead, EraserHead.                   2 of these of which are in my top 50 of all-time. Let’s take a look at the cast of this WTF am I watching movie.               The great Bela Lugosi who was elected  to our  HallWay of Fame 1st Class.                  THE HALLWAY of FAME (the 1st Class)  Born  Béla Ferenc Dezső Blaskó  October 20, 1882- Died August 16, 1956  while filming this movie. They used his wardrobe by putting on various actors and continued on with the movie.     Gregory Walcott  Born  Bernard Mattox,  January 13, 1928 in  Wendell North Carolina   Died March 20, 2015 aged 87 years.  Canoga Park, Los Angeles California.  He plays  Jeff Trent  Airline Pilot.       Maila Nurmi  Born Maila Elizabeth Syrjäniemi  December 11, 1922 in  Gloucester, Massachusetts, Died January 10, 2008 aged 85 years in  Los Angeles California.  She plays Vampire Girl, her recurring role as Vampira is used in the movie. In other words a Vampire being played by a Vampire.                                      Lyle Talbot Born  Lisle Henderson  February 8, 1902 in  Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,  Died March 2, 1996 aged 94 years in  San Francisco, California.  He plays Gen. Roberts.         Tor Johnson  Born  Karl Erik Tore Johansson  October 19, in either 1902 or 1903 in Brännkyrka, Stockholms län, Sweden, Died May 12, 1971 aged 67 or 68 years in  San Fernando, California.  He plays Det. Daniel Clay/Zombie.                                                                                                                                                                                   The Amazing Criswell  Born  Jeron Criswell Konig August 7, 1907 in Princeton Indiana, Died October 4, 1982 aged 75 years in  Burbank, California. The film is Narrated by  Criswell.                                                                         The rest of the cast.   Dudley Manlove  as  Eros.  Joanna Lee  as  Tanna.  John Breckinridge  as  The Ruler.  Tom Mason as  Bela Lugois’  Fake Shemp, A stand-in for a dead actor. There are a few more actors and actress’ but let’s get into the review.                                                                                                                                              (WHAT THE HELL AM I WATCHING )                                                                                                                            This is one of those movies that you watch more than once, for so many reasons. One being you want to deprive someone else of 80 minutes of their life, they will never get back. Another is, it’s so bad it’s amazingly entertianing, and great all at the same time. How rare is this, very rare. Our movie begins. People are gathered around an old man at his wife’s grave. Above them flies an airliner. Jeff Trent, and his co-pilot Danny are blinded by a bright light and loud noise. Outside their aircraft they see a UFO. They follow the UFO’s path  until they see it land at the graveyard, where the gravediggers are killed by a female zombie. The plot begins to show, when the UFO’s are seen flying all over Burbank Ca. Back at the graveyard the bodies are found police are called in. They start looking around for clues. Enter the UFO again as it gives off a sonic alien blast of sound, knocking everyone down and out. Det. Clay is turned into a zombie. The old man ( now a dead Lugois ) is replaced with a guy running around with a cape over his face. Next we are at the Trent household in the backyard. Mr. Trent explains to his wife about what he seen, and then they encounter a UFO fly over. Look you have got to watch this to understand it. As the movie moves along with the over-all  plot gone out the window, we do find out that Plans 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8, have all failed, and the Aliens are left with no other choice but for Plan 9. Without giving a spoiler here, Plan 9 is to turn everyone into a zombie and rule the world. Without fail the movie moves along with Plan 9 in full operation. This must be foiled by our hero Jeff Trent but how, what Plan can he come up with?  Can he keep his wife zombie-less, can he avoid zombie-ism, will he save the planet from PLAN 9 From OUTER-SPACE? Well if you look around today you might question the out come of the movie, all I can tell you is seek out this Cult favorite, and find out for yourself. Ask yourself this question before you do. Can you handle it cause PLAN 9 From OUTER-SPACE is the worse greatest movie ever made. So thank you Mr. Ed Wood for bringing us this amazing movie, truly it is the King of the B- Movies.
