THE 22 WHO SAY “NO DEATH PENTALTY” pt.2

(THE 1800’s THEY SAY NO NO EARLY)                                                                                                                                                   MAINE 1887                                                                                                                                                           MICHIGAN 1847                                                                                                                                                     WISCONSIN 1853                                                                                                                                                Let’s start with Maine,  you would think the State that produced maybe the greatest Horror writer ever Steven King. Would have a gruesome Death Penalty history. Sorry it’s not, they abolished it back in 1887. That’s not to say people were not executed, we found a few, so let’s look at the numbers first. There are 21 recorded executions in the state history between the years of 1644 & 1885. 10 of these executions were carried out before statehood and 11 after. That’s only 21 all-time, Fucking Texas does that in a week. Out of the 21  they break down like this. We have 19 males 2 females, 16 are white, 2 Native American, 3 African American. 20 out of 21 of those executed were convicted of murder with only 1  being executed for treason that was Jeremiah Baum. He just ran his mouth to much and one day in front of the wrong person. He is no way as crazy as these 2 stories, the 1st and the last person executed in the State of Maine.                                                                                                                                                                                                                 (THE MAINE THING)                                                                                                      Maine is located Latitude 42° 58′ N to 47° 28′ N Longitude 66° 57′ W to 71° 5′ W. It’s Capital is Augusta, largest city is Portland. Admitted to the Union March 15 1820 at #23 in Statehood. The state nickname(s) “The Pine Tree State” & “Vacationland”. The state motto “Dirigo” Latin for I lead. It is 35,385 sq mi with 30,862 sq mi  being land and 4,523 sq mi with water. The elevation is 600 ft above sea level. The highest elevation is at Mount Katahdin  5,270 ft . The lowest spot 0 ft is at the Atlantic Ocean.                                                                                                           As beautiful as any state in America, just to cold for this dude. Now let’s take a look at 2 knuckleheads.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            (STARTS WITH A LADY, ENDS WITH A MAN)                                                                                                                             Mrs. Cornish  we call her this cause no one knows her first name. So were off to a great start. She is the 1st person on record to be executed in the state. She and her husband, Richard Cornish,  moved to Maine   in 1636 soon after they got married in Massachusetts. In 1644, Richard’s  body was found in a river  stabbed and bludgeoned in the head. Mrs. Cornish  denied any involvement of course said “I didn’t fucking kill him” while  being questioned. The evidence for a motive come forth  when it was revealed that she was a whore having sex with a lot of dudes. She named one guy, Edward (Moosecock) (j/k) Johnson,  as one of her many ” lovers”. To test their guilt the investigators used “Trial by Touch”, which involved having the guilty party touch the deceased’s body; if the body bled, then the suspect was considered guilty of the crime. HUH!!? WHAT!!? Where the hell is Grisham at?  When performing this test Mr. Cornish’s  body oozed blood, which the investigators used as evidence to prosecute and sentence Mrs. Cornish  to death. She was executed by hanging in December 1645  in York,   but denied any involvement in the murder up to the time of her death. Ed Johnson  was later acquitted of murder. What a way to end a marriage good God that’s pretty crazy. This next knucklehead is even more crazy. Daniel Wilkinson  was executed for murder on November 21,  1885. He and his counterpart John Ewitt  were caught breaking into the Gould Ship Chandlery   they ran away on foot. They were found by Officer William Lawrence,  who threatened to arrest them, instead of just dropping the gun he turns and  shoots Officer Lawrence  in the head with a .32.  Ewitt   got the fuck out of there, he not only ran he didn’t stop till he got to England and avoided prosecution what a scumbag, while Wilkinson   was caught and arrested sentenced to death by hanging, after about a week. He  was hung for his crime well sorta hung. He died very slowly and painfully by strangulation cause they poorly tied noose opps.  This was later used in the fight by the anti-death penalty movement in Maine to successfully fight for the elimination of the death penalty, this  made Wilkinson  the last person to be executed by the state of Maine.  When you think about the crime committed by the person being executed sometimes it’s a no brainer.                                                                                                                                                                                           (BECAREFUL IN MICHIGAN NONE THE LESS)                                                                                           Don’t forget the Motor City, don’t forget the water issues, don’t forget that the Lions suck. Barry Saunders where have you gone. I really can’t find to many nice things to say about Michigan. You have Detriot one of the most deadliest cities in the world, IN THE WORLD, and yet you don’t have a Death Penalty. What our you thinking or are you even thinking. This better be good Michigan.  Lets check into this. It was legal from statehood in 1837 until abolished in 1846 for murder.                                                                                                                                                                                                         Michigan  is one of the few U.S. states never to have executed anyone following admission into the Union the only others are Alaska  and Hawaii.  About 12 people are known to have been executed from 1683 to 1836. Records during these times were shady to say the least. The 1st person known to be executed in Michigan  was an Aboriginal North American named Folle-Avoine. The 1st person executed under US Jurisdiction was a Native American named Buhnah.  2 women were executed in Michigan, both during the British colonial period – an unnamed Native American slave owned by a man named Clapham  in 1763. and a black slave named Ann Wyley  in 1777. By race, 7 of 15 were Native Americans; 7 were European-Americans; and 1 was an African-American. To get more about Michigan  check out  MICHIGAN and it’s No DEATH PENALTY HISTORY  Here is yet another example to be careful in Michigan  where you kill someone. They may not have the Death Penalty but Uncle Sam does check this story out. The case received national attention both for the brutality of the crime and for the controversial sentence. Michigan  abolished the death penalty in 1846, but the body of Timmerman  was found within the Huron–Manistee National Forests, a federally-maintained forest, which is not within the legal jurisdiction of the State of Michigan,  but is directly subject to U.S. federal law. Which does authorize the death penalty. Gabrion,  who was tried in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of  Michigan,   he is the 1st person sentenced to death by a federal court located in a non-death penalty state since the federal death penalty was reinstated in 1988. Convicted of the 1997 kidnapping and murder of 19-year-old  Rachel Timmerman,   of  Cedar Springs, Michigan Timmerman  and her 18-month-old daughter, Shannon,  disappeared 2 days before Gabrion  was set to stand trial on rape charges filed by Rachel  the previous summer. Rachel’s  body was found in  Oxford Lake,  weighted down by cinder blocks. Shannon  remains missing, but is presumed dead. Gabrion  is also the prime suspect in the disappearances and murders of several other people, including a witness who was set to testify against him in the trial for rape, his handyman, another potential witness and family friend and an unknown man. The bodies of these people, who were witnesses to his case, have never been found, however items belonging to them were found in his home. You see even if there is no Death Penalty by State there is by the Fed’s.                                                                                                                                             (SAY CHEESE)                                                                                                                                                           One of my jobs a few years ago was a DX driver. (Dealer Exchange) My dealership flew me to Appleton Wisconsin to drive a Ram 2500 back to Virginia for the customer whom had purchased it. I must say Wisconsin is the smelliest God awful odor I ever smelled in my life. The collection of cow farts and cow shit was utterly in-fucking-sane. If they had the Death Penalty I think it would be by cow farts and cow shit odor in a locked room. Lets look into this smelly state. Wisconsin is located Latitude 42° 30′ N to 47° 05′ N  Longitude 86° 46′ W to 92° 54′ W.  It’s Capital is Madison and the largest city is Milwaukee.  Admitted to the Union May 29, 1848  at #30 in statehood. The State nickname is Badger State &  America’s Dairyland.  State’s motto “HOLY SHIT THIS PLACE STINKS” or “FORWARD”  I have no idea where they are going with that one. I like mine better. It is 65,498.37 sq mi, 54,310 sq mi of land. The elevation is 1,050 ft. Timms Hill  is the highest elevation at 1,951 ft. The lowest Lake Michigan  579 ft.     Home of the Packers  the Brewers  and cheese, cheese, and more cheese. Wisconsin does have a dark side to it’s history, let’s check out a couple of stories.                         (DON’T HURT THAT COW)                                                                                                                                                               Abolished in 1853, Wisconsin was one of the earliest of the states to abolish the Death Penalty, and is the only state that has performed only 1 execution in its history. Now that’s some wild shit! Well this should be easy let’s see who that lucky son of bitch was. John McCaffary,  thank God the story is entertaining, not the murder the idiot that committed it. John  is born in 1820 no month is known so lets pick one for him. August 20,  that’s my birthday just not 1820. so John  is born August 20 1820 an immigrant farmer from IrelandKenosha Wisconsin July 23, 1850 the silent night is disturbed by the loud screams of a woman. Her screams of  “Oh John spare me”  and “Oh John save me”.  The cries so loud and desperate that the neighbors started to seek out there whereabouts and source. First on the scene holy shit it’s Col. Michael Frank  the towns first Mayor, so the mayor gets there first, must be an election year. As a crowd arrived in  John’s   yard the source of the screams of horror. They heard a splashing sound coming from a hogshead on the corner of the lot. There they saw John  wet muddy and disheveled heading for his backdoor. There he was arrested as they began the search for his wife who is not seen. Now the believed source of the screams for help. What did John  do, well here it is.  Bridgett McCaffary   was drowned in a backyard cistern in Kenosha,  a newly incorporated town in  Kenosha County, Wisconsin.   His trial began on  May 6, 1851,  and on  May 23, 1851 the jury convicted him of willful murder. The judge sentenced him to death by hanging and the death warrant was signed by Governor Nelson Dewey.  Cut and dry what’s the issue, hold on there’s more. McCaffary  was hanged from a tree on August 21, 1851 before a crowd of 2,000 to 3,000 people at the Kenosha  courthouse and jail. The hanging well it did not go so good , it was initially unsuccessful, and he remained alive and struggled on the end of the rope for approximately 20 minutes as he was slowly strangled. That’s to bad. They buried this idiot in the                            Green Ridge Cemetery  in  Kenosha.             So there you go 3 more states that say  No to the Death Penalty. Look for pt.3 and 3 more states we done 6 so far it’s the sweet 16 left to tell their tale of the Death Penalty.
