The studio’s intent is to film occult – supernatural themed films. This is 1921 people film is already getting weird. Nosferata is the only film to make it out, The studio goes bankrupt to avoid copywright infringments with Bram Stoker’s widow Florence Balcombe. The budget on the film was so tight that Fritz Arno Wagner used only one camera which meant only one original negative. Knowing this F.W. follows the screenplay to the letter.
